The Circle is the ultimate new reality programme that combines the spooky social rating system of Black Mirror's Nosedive with the dynamics of a programme like Big Brother and it's fair to say we're hooked.

For anyone who's not familiar with the Channel 4 programme, players are competing in a popularity contest to win the £50k prize fund, but the catch is they never actually meet each other face to face.

Players are all competing from independent apartments and therefore can play as themselves or they can be a complete catfish, acting like the person they think others will like the most. It's incredible.

One player who has taken full advantage of this is Kate... or shall we say Alex Hobern, the YouTuber and comedian behind the screen, who is using his charming personality along with pictures of his girlfriend *real name Millie Logan* to gain The Circle's trust.

As the series began, Kate found herself at the top of the social ratings, but that slowly began to slip - particularly after she revealed she didn't know who Little Mix were, despite claiming to be a 25-year-old woman.

While having a little snoop through Alex's social media, we couldn't help but have a nosy at the real Kate too, and if Alex's YouTube is anything to go by, they're super loved up.

The character that Alex has created is 25-year-old Kate from London... a bit like his girlfriend Millie, who is a 25-year-old from Yorkshire, now living in London.

Millie works as a Account Strategist at Digitas UK and her Instagram is full of adorable pictures of her and Alex together, particularly from their travels across Australia, New Zealand, New York and Amsterdam together.

Alex has earned a name for himself as quite the entertainer during his time on The Circle and it turns out he's had a fair bit of practice, having earned himself more than 300k followers on Facebook and more than 1,000 followers on YouTube.

The Circle continues at 10pm on Channel 4 tonight.
