Another Stephen King book adaptation is coming - and with a catalogue including blockbusters such as The Shining, Green Mile, The Shawshank Redemption and IT, that's a certified reason to get EXCITED.

Yes, apparently the prolific horror author's short story Mr Harrigan's Phone from the New York Times best-selling collection If It Bleeds, is being adapted for the silver screen.

What's more, according to The Hollywood Reporter the film is being produced by American Horror Story and Glee creator Ryan Murphy alongside famed horror director Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge), with Saving Mr Banks director John Lee Hancock to direct.

Mr Harrigan's Phone tells the story of a young boy called Craig who befriends an old billionaire man who lived nearby. When the boy wins some money on a lottery ticket gifted by his new friend, he decides to buy the old man an iPhone.

But when the old man dies, he realises he is able to communicate with him via the device from beyond the grave leading to a bunch of creepy circumstances.

Mr Harrigan's Phone will be going straight to Netflix when it's done - so subscribers will be able to watch it behind parted hands there.

While there's currently no release date for the horror, Stephen King fans have a lot keep them excited in the mean time.

King's novel 'The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon' is also being adapted (
Charles Scribner's Sons)

Last year, it was reported that Chris Romero was teaming up with IT producer Roy Lee to adapt King's 1999 survival novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

At the time, the acclaimed novelist confirmed the news on his Twitter, writing: "THE GIRL WHO LOVED Tom Gordon is coming--finally. I'm excited."

It joins the long list of King novels that have been adapted for the silver screen. Last year alone we saw Pet Sematary and IT: Chapter Two hit cinemas.
