ITV has revealed its satirical show, Spitting Image will return after 24 years off air.

It was one of the most-watched shows in the late 1980s and early 1990s and was watched by 15 million Brits across the UK.

If you're unfamiliar with the show, each episode focussed on parodying a series of different celebs through caricatured puppets.

And for its 2020 return, the show will be setting its sights on the likes of Donald Trump, Harry and Meghan, James Corden, Boris Johnson, Beyoncé and Prince Andrew.

Original creator, Roger Law will be masterminding the relaunched series.

He said: "The new Spitting Image will be global through a uniquely British eye, it will be more outrageous, audacious and salacious than the previous incarnation.

"With scandalous scripts and A-list characters, it will be the people's programme!"

The original series - which parodied the likes of Margaret Thatcher as well as the Queen Mother - was axed in 1996 following a decline in viewers, but ITV did consider reintroducing the show in 2006 but this also ended up being scrapped.

But creators hope the new instalment will be a welcome addition, nearly a quarter of a century on.

"With the world getting smaller and more turbulent, the time couldn't be more appropriate for an iconic British satirical take on global events," creators said in a statement.

The show will arrive on UK streaming platform, BritBox, in autumn this year - although an exact date has not yet been confirmed.

BritBox is a paid-for, on-demand service launched by BBC and ITV. The service will provide access to a catalogue of British shows - including content from Channel 4 and Channel 5.
