It's never nice to see one of your childhood heroes butchered in a live-action remake, but it appears Sonic the Hedgehog fans are taking this one personally.
The creators behind the Sonic the Hedgehog Movie have faced backlash online for their re-imagining of the much-loved video game character - so much so that they've decide to redo the entire thing.
Upon seeing the first trailer for the movie, which is still sure to be released in November, fans complain about Sonic's 'childlike body', 'soft features' and 'human teeth'. You can watch it here:
Now, the film's director Jeff Fowler has explained that Paramount and SEGA are looking to redo Sonic based on the negative reaction.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote: "Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear... you aren't happy with the design & you want changes."
He added: "It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be."

The new Sonic faced a wave of hate online when he was first revealed, with some making comparisons to other film characters...
When I saw Sonic's design, it looked vaguely familiar...

Edward Pun, the animator behind the live-action Sonic has since shared his new version on Twitter, and it's safe to say people are far more pleased, with the tweet receiving over 300,000 likes.
The new version sees Sonic with a larger head and smaller body featuring longer, thinner legs, much like the video game version. The new Sonic has also been given bigger eyes to replicate his video game self.

Considering the film was completed upon the release of the trailer, it's likely that changing Sonic will take the team months to complete.
But forget the film itself, the people are asking for a documentary about the tricky making of the film.
I want to see the documentary about what the animation and art team on the Sonic the Hedgehog movie has gone through.

Sonic the Hedgehog is basically turning into the Fyre Festival of movies and I literally can't wait to watch 10 documentaries about it

Maybe scratch Sonic the Hedgehog the movie and get working on the documentary instead, Paramount?
Still set for release on 8th November 2019, the film stars Jim Carey as Doctor Eggman, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski and David Schwartz voicing Sonic.
