Remember Sir David Attenborough's Dynasties that aired in 2018? Well, great news - it's coming back for a second series.

The second instalment of the show will return to BBC One in 2022, following animals from the Andes to the plains in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, and the wetlands fed by the flooded Zambezi River.

This time, Angelina the elephant, Kali the cheetah, Rupestre the puma and Suma the hyena will feature, with each episode focusing on a different animal family.

Jack Bootle, head of commissioning for science and natural history at the BBC, said: "Dynasties II will be a gripping look at the lives of four remarkable wild animals as they struggle to build a family against the odds.

"With characters you fall in love with, and genuine life-and-death stakes, this will be a series every bit as thrilling as the greatest drama."

Meanwhile, Mike Gunton, executive producer, said: "Being able to tell these stories is a wildlife film-maker's dream.

"And just like in series one, they are going to be a gripping rollercoaster ride."

We laughed and cried at the first series of Sir David's Dynasties, which was watched by eight million viewers in 2018.

From David the chimp, to Charm and Sienna the lions, we were gripped to the show each week. And who could forget the heart wrenching moment a group of emperor penguins and their babies were trapped in an ice gully?

Viewers will remember how, in a bid to help the penguins, the Dynasties team made the rare decision to intervene, digging a shallow ramp to allow them to climb out.

"In an unprecedented move, the crew decided to act. They dug a shallow ramp in the hope that at least some of the penguins would use it to save themselves," BBC said at the time.

Dynasties II is expected to air in 2022, but in the meantime you can watch the first series on BBC iPlayer.
