Attention dog owners! Your pet pup could be the star of Sheridan Smith's brand new BBC show, Pooch Perfect.

The actress is calling for scruffy, long-haired doggos to get a trim on camera, from one of "Britain's best groomers".

She put a plea on her Instagram page last night, writing: "Hey guys! So we need you and your pooches for filming @poochperfect_uk this August".

On the post, she detailed the breeds of dogs they were looking for.

The list included any Shih Tzu, Bichon Frise, standard or miniature Poodles and English Cocker Spaniel dogs with long, scruffy hair.

The show is also looking for puppies, between four and 10 months of age, who are yet to have their first haircuts. Awwww.

If you want to apply, email [email protected] for more info.

Fronted by Sheridan - who owns six dogs herself - the new eight part series will showcase ten pairs of professional dog stylists from around the country as they undergo a string of challenges and seek to transform pets so that they're as glam as can be.

Sheridan is a massive dog lover herself (

It's like Glow Up but with dog grooming instead of makeup challenges.

After each challenge, the dogs then flaunt their stylist's creations on The Dogwalk, before the judges deliberate and the animals' owners are given the chance to see their dog's "epic transformations" for the first time.

The dogs will live lives of luxury while on the show, in the specially built Pooch Palace.

And the BBC promise the show will not only be barking good fun, but also feature information for dog lovers and owners alike.

Expect "top tips on responsible ownership, fun facts about dog breeds and a guide to at-home pooch pampering techniques."

The show isn't a new concept, as it is already a hit in the US on Channel 7, hosted by actress Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect, Jojo Rabbit and Bridesmaids).

There isn't a release date yet, but, seeing as it's recording in August, we shouldn't have too long to wait.

This honestly sounds like our dream show.
