Inspired by BB Easton's memoir 44 Chapters About 4 Men - Sex/Life follows mum-of-two Billie (Sarah Shahi) who is thirsty for her former lover Brad Simon (Adam Demos), and reflecting on some of her most wild flings before meeting her husband.
Billie's husband, Cooper (Mike Vogel) eventually reads her diary and he decides to use her diary fantasies as inspiration for their time in the bedroom - learning from her experiences so he can best tick her boxes.
Brad also re-enters Billie's life, leading to a very dramatic love triangle.
Easton's book from which the series is based, was written like a diary and follows a school psychologist and mother of two who starts exploring her fantasies through her writing.
"That was the most cathartic experience for me. It helped me form a bridge between my current life and the girl I used to be. I was living my current life but I was writing about all these fun experiences and it helped me feel like I was the same person," she said.
Fans were quick to react on Twitter, with one sharing: "I need to read this right now omg!".
A second viewer shared: "Wow! I can't believe it was based on a book."
The raunchy scenes from the show have caused quite a stir on social media. In episode three, for example, when Brad and Cooper are both naked in the gym showers, Cooper checks out his love rival's package.
In related news, Adam Demos and Sarah Shahi are an item in real life. They went Instagram official on Valentine's Day this year, and have been sharing loved up captions and pictures ever since.
Commenting on their relationship to The Telegraph Australia, Adam said: "What I will say and I am always happy to say, is that I am a lucky man and it is happy days..."
Sex/Life is available to stream on Netflix.
