This Sunday 1st March is an exciting day for Studio Ghibli fans as seven more films from the Japanese animation company are set to drop on Netflix.

In January, Netflix announced that they would be releasing 21 films on the streaming service and earlier this month fans were treated to the first bunch of animated classics, with films including Castle in the Sky and My Neighbour Totoro released.

Now a Tweet by Netflix has confirmed that there's more to come as seven more popular films will be released this coming weekend.

The films appearing on Netflix from this Sunday include Spirited Away (2001), Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (1984), Princess Mononoke (1997), My Neighbors the Yamadas (1999), The Cat Returns (2002), Arrietty (2010) and The Tale of The Princess Kaguya (2013).

In January, Netflix announced their partnership with Wild Bunch International to distribute the popular films, in order "to grow its best-in-class library of animated films."

Studio Ghibli's producer Toshio Suzuki said: "In this day and age, there are various great ways a film can reach audiences. We've listened to our fans and have made the definitive decision to stream our film catalogue. We hope people around the world will discover the world of Studio Ghibli through this experience."

Netflix's director of original animation, Aram Yacoubian, added that the service was excited to make the films available in more languages and countries.

"This is a dream come true for Netflix and millions of our members. Studio Ghibli's animated films are legendary and have enthralled fans around the world for over 35 years."

Studio Ghibli was set up in 1985 by Japanese animated film directors Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki and has produced 22 films. The company's popular film Spirited Away won 'Best Animated Feature' in 2002.
