Ever have an urge to watch a *really* specific genre of film? Like a vintage high school rom-com, a period drama from the early 1960s or a gory shark horror movie?
Loading…
Sometimes only a very specific film will do. And by the time you've taken your pick after scrolling through all the listless options on Netflix, the person you're watching with is not too impressed with your choice or has already nodded off.
That's why we were thrilled to discover that the streaming giant has a secret hidden feature which allows you to niche down your searches and find exactly what you're looking for without any time or effort.
Yep, all you need to do is log in to the streaming site with your personal details, and then type in: www.netflix.com/browse/genre/XXXX.
But in the place of 'XXXX', you actually need to enter a specific code. This will then show you all of the movies and TV shows that then fit in with your chosen sub-category. You can ever get super specific.
For instance, if it is a 'Biographical 20th Century Period Pieces About Fame" you are after, you need to add 77456. Or, if you want a 'Visually-Striking Crime Thriller', change the end four numbers to 3722.
Some of the genres vary depending on the country you're in, but with so many sub-categories, you're bound to find something that works a treat.
You don't need to memorise millions of codes though; simply click here for a whole list of the categories available (there's over 27,002, so the list is endless).
Some new ones include 20th Century Period Pieces for Hopeless Romantics, Biographical First-Love Dramas and Critically-acclaimed Crime Thrillers Based On Books.
Plus, our personal fave for when we're feeling a bit hormonal and need a cry - Emotional Movies about Cats & Dogs.
Brb, we've got some serious Netflix binging to do...
