It was only released two days ago, but Netflix's brand new festive movie, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey, is already receiving some incredible reviews from fans.

Not only are many calling it their "new favourite Christmas movie" but others are *obsessed* with a cute little character in the musical film named Buddy 3000.

Buddy, an adorable little robot, is at the centre of the movie's storyline and fans can't get enough of the toy's magical charm.

If you're yet to watch, the film is all about the iconic toymaker, Jeronicus Jangle (played by Forest Whitaker) who lives in the town of Cobbleton.

The movie follows Jeronicus and his talented granddaughter, Journey (newcomer Madalen Mills) as they set out on a quest to track down Jeronicus' former apprentice, Gustafson (Keegan-Michael Key).

Many years ago, Gustafson betrayed Jeronicus and ever since, the toymaker has been struggling to overcome his grief after losing everything.

But when Journey arrives to visit her grandpa, she finds the whimsical robot in his workshop and vows to bring him to life. Tragically, Gustafson betrays the family once again by breaking into the toyshop and stealing their precious Buddy.

As Netflix explain, it's up to Journey to "heal old wounds and reawaken the magic within."

Fans of the movie are particularly taken with Buddy, with one writing on Twitter: "Netflix is obligated to send all subscribers who watch jingle jangle their very own buddy 3000 for Christmas."

While another said: "Jingle jangle on Netflix. I love you BUDDY 3000" and another added: "Okay @netflix curtesy of Jingle Jangle I have 5 siblings asking me for a buddy 3000. Do something about that please."

Meanwhile, another asked where they might be able to get their hands on a little Buddy, tweeting: "Just finished @Netflix Jingle Jangle a Christmas Journey and I loved it. Can you please tell me where I can get a Buddy 3000?!?!?"

It seems the story of Buddy's creation is equally as magical as the robot itself. Speaking about creating Buddy, writer and director David E. Talbert told EW: "I grew up with R2-D2 and Short Circuit, and the Lost in Space robot, [Robby], and then most recently, I fell in love with WALL-E.

"And he's not a robot, but I loved E.T. I love his eyes. I love how childlike E.T. is, so I wanted to throw all of those into like a gumbo, into a pot, and then mix them all together. That's what Buddy 3000 is."

David also explained it was his son, Elias, who first created Buddy. David had asked his four-year-old son what he thought he should look like, and Elias created his own design on paper.

In the end, Buddy paid tribute to both Elias and David's great grandmother.

"I had the words Elias 260 put around both of his eyes. Elias is my son's name. And 260 is the address of my great grandmother. It's a full circle moment. The most magical in my life was my great grandmother. She treated me like there was always pixie dust floating on me," said David.

A truly magical character for a truly magical film! If you're yet to watch, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is streaming on Netflix now.
