Exciting news incoming: Disney is working on a live-action reboot of Robin Hood.

Yes, the 1973 animated classic is reportedly the latest movie to be getting the live-action treatment by the studio.

Robin Hood is an adaptation of the popular English folklore tales that told of a legendary outlaw who robbed from the rich and gave to the poor.

Disney reimagined the story with anthropomorphic animals, including the titular character as a fox; Little John, a bear; Prince John, a lion; Friar Tuck, a badger; Maid Marian, a vixen; and the sheriff of Nottingham, a cunning wolf.

The film was a childhood classic and was well-known for songs such as 'Love', which was nominated for an Oscar, and 'Oo De Lally'.

The reboot is said to be a musical and will use a live-action/CG hybrid format, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This has been seen most recently in the Lady and the Tramp remake, where real animals are used with some CGI added, such as to make their mouths move while speaking.

THR add that contracts for the project - which is in early development - were signed before Hollywood's coronavirus lockdown.

It follows a string of successful live action adaptations by Disney, including that of The Lion King (2019), Aladdin (2019), and Dumbo (2019).

Kari Granlund, the writer behind Lady and the Tramp, has been signed on to do the screenplay, while director Carlos Lopez Estrada, known for crime movie Blindspotting (2018), is helming the movie.

The Robin Hood remake comes alongside a string of other live action reimaginings by Disney, including Cruella and The Little Mermaid which were planned for 2020.

However, many films are expected to see a delay in scheduling as Disney has ceased all production while coronavirus lockdown is underway.

Last month, the studio announced it was postponing the release of three of its upcoming titles as an "abundance of caution" in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

This included the highly anticipated live-action Mulan remake, which was scheduled for release on 27th March, as well as The New Mutants and Antlers, which were planned for April 3 and April 17 respectively.

We can't wait for this new Robin Hood live-action to drop. Anyone else?
