First Pictures Of The 'Riverdale' Halloween Special Have Arrived

Riverdale fans you're in for a treat, because the show has released a sneak peek at episode four of Season 4 and it's set to be a Halloween special.

Landing on Netflix on 30th October for UK viewers, this is the first time Riverdale has run a special episode for the spooky holiday and it looks like the gang are set to be caped up like Superheroes.

Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) is set to wear a skintight number posing as Pureheart the Powerful, while Mad Dog wears The Shield's costume. No, we didn't know who they were either.

Comic super fans however will know that Riverdale is in fact based on the Archie comics featuring the two characters - they're pretty old.

Naturally, Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch) dresses up in the episode as villain Poison Ivy from the Batman comics - we mean, who else would this badass teen dress as? While her partner Toni Topaz (Vanessa Morgan) dresses as Harley Quinn.

What a pair of minxes. Even more so as the promo video for the episode sees the girls playing the Ouija Board with nana Rose (Barbara Wallace) - everybody knows this is no game, girls.

Elsewhere in the episode, Juhgead Jones (Cole Sprouse) hears about disappearances of former students and ominous videotapes begin to appear on people's doorsteps across the town. But worse, it seems that The Black Hood is back.

But how? Betty Cooper's (Lili Reinhart) dad was shot dead... Wasn't he?

The promotional clip sees Betty answer the phone to a voice that says "you know who this is..." which leaves Betty screaming.

The voice then goes on: "Tell me, Betty, do you know this call is coming from inside the house?". Creepy.

The Black Hood is also shown standing next to The Gargoyle King. Say what? We thought both had long gone, so we're anxious, confused and excited.

Meanwhile, Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes) is seen running away from something. It might just be the scariest episode yet.

Whilst the superhero theme looks playful, the rest of the episode sounds terrifying. (

It all looks very fitting for Halloween.

The official episode synopsis reads: "When ominous videotapes begin appearing on doorsteps across Riverdale, widespread fear quickly returns to the town.

"At Stonewall Prep, Jughead learns about a series of mysterious disappearances that have occurred to former students at the school.

"Meanwhile, Archie's plan to create a safe space for the town's kids gets derailed when some unwanted visitors crash their Halloween party.

"Elsewhere, Veronica comes face to face with trouble, while Betty's past comes back to haunt her.

"Lastly, a haunting at Thistlehouse rocks Cheryl and Toni to their core."

Archie's party explains the super hero outfits then. It sounds like the gang are following a theme this Halloween, but they've got a lot more on their plates than the perfect party outfit.

We'll have to wait until next Wednesday to find out.
