Reese Witherspoon knows a good book when she reads one - and she knows how to adapt it into a brilliant series, too.

Case in point, her most recent TV adaptation, Little Fires Everywhere. And now, the actress, 44, has turned her attention to Delia Owens' bestselling murder mystery, Where The Crawdads Sing.

Reese's previous adaptations have been a huge success (

Instead of a telly adaptation, Reese has acquired the rights to develop this book into a movie instead. So exciting!

Released in 2018, it was Reese's September 2018 book club pick and it's topped the New York Times bestsellers. So naturally, we know we're onto a winner and Reese certainly has a good track record in producing adaptations.

So what's it all about? Well, the book follows the story of Kya, a young woman who was abandoned as a child in 1952. As a result, she raises herself on a marsh in North Carolina and becomes known by locals as 'Marsh Girl'.

The book spent 97 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list (

Fast forward to 1969 and Kya - now an adult and a published author - is accused of murder when her former boyfriend, a man named Chase Andrews is found dead. As prime suspect in the case, Kya could lose everything.

The book - which is part crime thriller and part coming of age novel - has been a monumental success since its release, spending 97 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list and selling more than seven million copies worldwide.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Olivia Newman will direct the movie, meanwhile Oscar-nominated Lucy Alibar is said to be writing the script.

If you're yet to see Reese's most recent adaptation - Little Fires Everywhere - you can catch it on Amazon Prime Video. It's based on the 2017 novel by Celeste Ng of the same name and stars Kerri Washington alongside Reese.

It's currently unclear whether Reese will be starring in the movie - or if she will simply be serving as producer - but either way we're expecting big things.

We can't wait to hear more - and we'll let you know as soon as we do...
