Firstly, who watch Quiz last night? And secondly, can we talk about how good it was?!

ITV's new drama, which launched last night, tells the story of Major Charles Ingram and his wife Diana Ingram, who swindled popular game show Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? to take home the full £1 million prize in 2001.

With three instalments airing this week, its premiere was equal parts gripping, hilarious and nostalgic as viewers got a juicy look at the exciting world of '90s television commissioning and learnt of the unbelievable syndicate that had formed to play the game show's system.

And that's all before we get to the incredible casting! Michael Sheen got Chris Tarrant spot on.

Now, the real life Charles Ingram - who was eventually was dealt an 18-month suspended sentence and fines of £25,000 for the swindle - has given his review of the show. And it seems he's a fan just like everyone else.

"WOW," the former army major simply wrote on Twitter.

"The cast, the story, the scenes, simply brilliant. Terrifyingly accurate and oh yes, horribly cringeworthy. Floored by the pure talent on show tonight," he added. "Well done too to @ITV. Gutsy."

Before that, Ingram even praised the show's attention to detail, namely how accurate the production got a double of his car and even bed.

"I loved that old Honda. Loaded and such a smooth ride. The attention to detail is unnerving.

"That's our BED! How the heck did they find our bed?," he tweeted. While Ingram's account isn't verified, we've spent more time than we'd like to admit trawling his tweets and are confident it is him.

Part one took viewers through the conception of Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?, the now iconic game show format that was initially rejected by major networks.

We saw how Celador Television Chairman, Paul Smith (Mark Bonner) and show co-creator David Briggs (Elliot Levey), with the help of ITV Entertainment Commissioner, Claudia Rosencrantz (Aisling Bea), sold the idea for the show - then titled Cash Mountain - to ITV's then Director of Programmes and Channels, David Liddiment (Risteárd Cooper).

The TV bosses were ordered to make a pilot and Liddiment eventually decided to take a risk on the fledgling gameshow, airing every night for a week on prime time television. Under its new name, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? became an instant success.

What ensued was hysteria around the show and a syndicate of WWTBAM? enthusiasts formed to try and scam their way on to the show. Viewers were introduced to Diana Ingram's brother Adrian Pollock (Trystan Gravelle) who obsessed over getting on the show, even making a dummy fastest-finger-first buzzer.

Pollock managed to get on to the show four times, followed by his sister Diana (Sian Clifford), and finally her husband Charles Ingram (Matthew Macfadyen).

Part two of Quiz airs on ITV tonight, followed by the final part on Wednesday.

Major Ingram, his wife Diana and an accomplice, Tecwen Whittock, who was sitting in the audience, were accused of cheating when producers watched the recording of the show back.

The couple stood trial for conspiring by coughing to signal the correct answers to the multiple choice questions, posed by the show's host Chris Tarrant.

The Ingram's 18-month trial gripped the nation at the time, with the couple maintaining their innocence. Eventually, they were dealt an 18-month suspended sentence and fines of £25,000.

We can't WAIT for part two.
