If you're stuck for a rom-com to watch when you get home tonight, then let us remind you that there's no better time to watch P.S. I Love You on Netflix.

It's only recently we found out that the smash-hit, starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler, had officially been acquired for a sequel film.

So, how about brushing up on the OG movie in preparation?

P.S. I Love You followed Holly and Gerry's tragic romance (

The 2007 film follows the love story of Holly (Swank) and Gerry (Butler) that continues through his love notes even after his death.

And it's perfect for anybody looking for an absolute tear jerker.

Fans have been hotly anticipating the rom-com sequel for years now, and while it was confirmed to be in the works it last year, it's only this month that the Cecelia Ahern novel was picked up by Alcon Entertainment - the same company that worked on the original film.

Ahern's second book, Postscript, picks up seven years after Gerry Kennedy's death and six years since Holly has read his last letter.

Following an appearance on a podcast discussing his passing, Holly, who is now in a positive place and in love, is approached by a group of terminally ill individuals who have been inspired by her story.

The group, who call themselves the 'PS, I Love You Club', ask for her help to write similar letters Gerry left her in the wake of his death for their loved ones.

However, it means she's forced to revisit her grief and the love she had for Gerry, which brings back memories both good and bad.

While the full cast is yet to be revealed, we do know that Hilary Swank has told Cecelia that she's onboard to star in the cinematic sequel.

The first P.S. I Love You film raked in $156 million (£131 million) at box offices worldwide when it was first released.

However, fans might have to wait a while for the big screen sequel, as it hasn't yet gone into production.

Still, we'll get the tissues at the ready...
