Prince Harry and Prince William have spoken since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's groundbreaking Orpah Winfrey interview, although their conversation is said to have been "unproductive", a friend of theirs has claimed.

Gayle King - who is close to Meghan Markle, and even attended her baby shower - made the revelation while presenting CBS This Morning, where she revealed she had spoken to Harry and Meghan over the weekend.

When asked how the conversation went, Gayle simply replied that it was 'unproductive', hinting that the pair had not yet managed to mend their relationship at present.

"Well I'm not trying to break news, but I did actually call them to see how they were feeling, and it's true, Harry has talked to his brother and he has talked to his father too," she said.

"The word I was given, those conversations were not productive. But they are glad they at least started a conversation."

American TV personality, King, continued: "And I think what is still upsetting to them is the palace keep saying they want to work it out privately, but yet, they believe these false stories are coming out that are very disparaging against Meghan, still.

"No one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet, at this particular time.

"And I think it's frustrating for them to see that it's a racial conversation about the royal family when all they wanted all along was for the royals to intervene and tell the press to stop with the unfair, inaccurate, false stories that definitely have a racial slant.

"And until you can acknowledge that, I think it's going to be hard to move forward. But they both want to move forward with this and they both want healing in this family. At the end of the day, that is Harry's family".

The conversations between Harry and his family must have happened in the last few days, as Prince William denied he had been in contact last Thursday, adding that he would be speaking to his brother soon.

The Duke of Cambridge was on a visit to Stratford, east London when he was quizzed on whether he had spoken to his brother.

William replied that he "hadn't spoken to him yet," adding: "But I will do".

When asked whether the royal family is racist, William replied: "We're very much not a racist family".

It comes after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry alleged that there had been royal concerns over their son Archie's skin colour, during the two-hour CBS special with Oprah.

They also suggested that Meghan was treated differently from Kate Middleton because of her race, during the bombshell interview.

Plus, the interview featured conversations about Prince Harry's strained relationship with his family.

Discussing his fraught relationship with his brother, Harry suggested they had very different feelings towards royal life.

"Much will continue to be said about that," he replied, when asked about William. "As I've said before, I love William to bits - he's my brother and we've been through hell together and we have a shared experience but we're on different paths."

Harry revealed that he was also not on great terms with his father, Prince Charles.

"There's a lot to work through there. I feel really let down because he's been through something similar," he confessed.

"Archie's his grandson. I will always love him, but there's a lot of hurt that's happened. I will continue to make it one of my priorities to heal that relationship."

Gayle also discussed bullying claims currently being lobbied against former Suits actress, Meghan, during her appearance on CBS This Morning, promising that Meghan was far from a bully, and insisting that she could also prove everything she had alleged when sat down with Oprah.

"The bullying thing was raised in 2018 and now there's an ongoing investigation about bullying from Meghan Markle, when anyone who has worked with her will tell you exactly who she is," she said.

"You know, she's really a very sweet, caring person. And as I say, Meghan has documents to back up everything that she said on Oprah's interview. Everything.

"The family has to acknowledge that there are issues and right now nobody is acknowledging...Houston we have a problem here!

"That's really all they want. They want a conversation".
