Piers Morgan Thinks He Should Be Played By Colin Firth In A Movie

Piers Morgan raised eyebrows on Good Morning Britain when he said that he would be played by Colin Firth in a movie - and not only that, added that the actor had even expressed interest in the role.

The controversial TV presenter assigned Hollywood stars to the whole GMB team, with Susanna Reid played by Catherine Zeta-Jones, Laura Tobin portrayed by Martine McCutcheon and Dr Hilary Jones acted George Clooney.

But it was his own casting that caused a few sniggers from viewers, after he said that Love Actually star Colin Firth would be the right man for the job.

Piers quipped: "He rang me on my mobile phone and said, 'Piers, it's Colin Firth, we don't know each other but I want to let you know that on principle, I never turn down work!'.

"[He said], 'I should be very interested in playing you in a movie!'...so thank you Colin!"

However, taking to social media, jesting fans were quick to suggest there was someone else more suited to playing Piers instead.

"@GMB Not so sure about Colin Firth @piersmorgan, however I think you look more like the bird lady from home alone," one wrote.

While another concurred: "@GMB please please instead of Colin Firth put up a picture of The Bird Lady Brenda Fricker. It will drive Piers crazy".

"@piersmorgan @GMB Piers, why are you even considering Colin Firth to play you, when we all know it should be Brenda Fricker," a third chipped in.

Piers' likeness to the Home Alone icon has been mentioned before, and let's just say he wasn't thrilled about it at the time.

The comparison was first actually made by the former newspaper editor's own son, Spencer, on Twitter back in 2018, while watching Home Alone: Lost In New York.

And Piers swiftly replied with three angry faced emojis, in the comments.

Now the rumour has taken on a life of it's own. In fact, last month, Susanna Reid claimed she had 'proof' they were the same person, showing footage from an episode in 2018 where Morgan was covered in pigeons.

Meanwhile, another Twitter user posted a side-by-side picture of Piers and the pigeon lady shortly afterwards, and wrote: "Im not saying Piers Morgan is the Pigeon Lady from Home Alone 2 but have you ever seen them in a room together at the same time."

We're not saying this is going to follow Piers until the end of time, but.... it almost certainly will.

Sorry Colin, we think Brenda has got the gig...
