If, like us, the cancellation of British Love Island left a gaping hole in your life, it may interest you to know that Twitter users are saying the Aussie version is better than the original.

Hosted by Sophie Monk and narrated by Eoghan McDermott, the Aussie series was actually filmed back in 2018 in a stunning villa in Mallorca - and delivers on the same sunshine, escapism and hot romance of the UK series.

Airing nightly on ITV2, the reality show's cast of sexy singles are already in full swing, grafting their way to the $50,000 prize money.

Among them are tattooed nurse Erin, gorgeous bartender Cassidy, rugby hunk Charlie and Sydney-born prison officer, Eden.

If you're playing catch-up, you can read Tyla's debrief on all the Islanders here.

And going by the reaction on Twitter, a whole of Love Island fans have found that the Aussie equivalent as just as juicy as its British cousin - if not more so!

One enthusiastic viewer wrote: "Its so annoying none of my friends are watching love island Australia cause I can't physically cope with how mental last nights episode was Ahahhaa 10x better than our love island."

While a second agreed: "Just putting it out there but love island Australia is whey better than uk one."

Viewers took to Twitter to declare Aussie 'Love Island' "10x better" than its British cousin (

Meanwhile, a third expressed how baffled she was that more of her UK friends weren't watching the Australian show: "So confused as to why nobody is watching Love Island Australia. It is 1,000,000 times better than the British one."

If that isn't temptation enough for you, allow us to point out that the Aussie Islanders include a certain someone who reality TV fans will have seen before - though they'd be forgiven for not recognising him.

That islander is namely John James Parton, who previously appeared on the eleventh series of Big Brother way back in 2010 and fell for fellow contestant Josie Gibson.

We've seen a lot of glow-ups in our time but we have to admit that this one made us do a double take.

Back in the twenty-tens, the reality star sported a bleached sweeping side fringe, diamante earrings, boho beads and some questionable stone wash denim.

Now, the 34-year-old - who these days works as a DJ in Melbourne, Australia - is barely recognisable, sporting a new hair do, tats and a glowing tan, along with a chiselled bod that any PT would be proud of.

Love Island Australia continues every night on ITV2 at 9pm.
