Last week, Tiger King fans went into meltdown when Netflix announced it would be releasing an extra, bonus episode, Tiger King and I.

But now it's arrived, viewers have called the eighth instalment a "let down" with several describing it as a "huge disappointment".

The bonus episode was a special, 'after show style' instalment hosted by actor and presenter Joel McHale, and featured interviews with several of the people involved in the show, including Jeff and Lauren Lowe, John Reinke, Joshua Dial, John Finlay, Saff, Erik Cowie and Rick Kirkman.

But viewers weren't impressed, with some calling it "boring" while others said it was "a waste of time".

One wrote: "PSA: the bonus Tiger King episode is a waste of time to watch. not funny or entertaining whatsoever."

While another said: "That content was not worthy enough to be a whole other episode, even if it was 34 minutes. I acc fell asleep."

Others said it was "underwhelming" while some were disappointed that Carole Baskin had not been involved.

"The Tiger King extra episode was terrible. The show ain't sh*t without Joe and Carole," wrote one viewer.

Another agreed, adding: "Carole Baskin should've been on that new episode of Tiger King. Disappointed but not surprised."

The general consensus is that people were unaware the show would be a series of interviews - despite Netflix having explained this in the episode announcement.

One said: "Okay the new episode of Tiger King is not what I wanted because it's just quarantine Skype interviews with everyone. Am I still gonna watch it? ABSOLUTELY."

While another tweeted: "I thought the new Tiger King episode would be better than this. Not just some recap interviews :(."

It wasn't all disappointment, however. We're sure many viewers would argue that John Finlay's epic glow up alone was enough reason to tune in.

While John could be seen with a full set of teeth (although he has previously claimed he had these during filming, but they were not shown) he's also got a goatee beard and glasses.

One viewer even called his makeover the "biggest glow up in history".

In other very important Tiger King updates, Joe - who is currently serving a 22-year jail sentence - reportedly has a son, who is thought to have actually appeared in the series.

According to Joe's niece, Chealsi Putman, Joe's alleged son Brandon made multiple appearances in the series, but the connection wasn't explained. You can read more about the claims here.

And if you're yet to watch Tiger King, you can catch the full series, including the bonus episode, on Netflix now.
