'You' Star Penn Badgley To Appear In Another Creepy Thriller And It's On Netflix

We're used to seeing him play creepy Joe Goldberg in 'You,' but this time he looks set to play the good guy.

Penn Badgley is the man of the moment since starring in You, which received rave reviews when it landed earlier this year on Netflix. It was his first notable appearance since starring as Gossip Girl.

But while everyone waits with baited breath for You Season 2 - which lands on Boxing Day - it might be worth noting he also stars in another thriller on Netflix, The Stepfather.

And the best part? You can watch it right now.

This time around Penn doesn't play the creep, rather someone who is suspicious of another 'creepy' character.

The film is a re-make of The Stepfather from 1987 and is all about a guy, David (Dylan Walsh), who hunts down widowed and divorced women with children, targeting the ladies in supermarket aisles.

He likes to play the family man and women find themselves stunned to find he's not just after a one night stand, but instead wants to play happy families.

However, when he meets Susan (Sela Ward), what he doesn't realise is not only does she have two young kids, she also has an older son, Michael (Penn Badgley) who returns home from military school to find the loved up couple living together.

Michael soon becomes suspicious of 'helpful' David though. Is there more to him than meets the eye?

It sounds very Dirty John-esque and right up our street, tbh.

Despite the exciting premise, the reviews have certainly been mixed.

Some reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes suggested the film is "full of plot holes".

But not all is lost, because while it sounds far from perfect, other reviewers said it was "effective popcorn entertainment," "interesting" and - if nothing else - brought "unintentional laughs" that only "add to the fun".

It kind of sounds like one of those so bad it is good movies and we're 100 per cent giving it a go, even if only for Penn Badgley.
