The cast of Peaky Blinders are currently filming for the sixth and final season of the show - and we've got pictures!

Yep, Cillian Murphy and the rest of the cast have been spotted in Manchester's Castlefield shooting for the much anticipated TV series, and even these grainy behind-the-scenes snaps have left us seriously swooning for Tommy Shelby again.

In one picture from set, Cillian, 44, can be seen wearing Tommy's infamous flat cap and trench coat as he lurks in a dimly lit corner.

Meanwhile, another snap shows the actor on the cobbled streets, which have been decorated with props to look like 1930s Birmingham.

Tommy isn't the only one who can be seen in the backstage snaps, as another image shows Paul Anderson, 43, filming as Arthur Shelby.

His character can also be seen in a fraught conversation with a woman in an old-fashioned taxi, while other shots show him filming with extras in period clothing, and later looking brooding as cameras film a closeup of his face.

The pair's co-star Harry Kirton, 22, is also back as the youngster of the pack, Finn Shelby, with a Peaky Blinders short back and sides trim to boot.

The cast previously filmed in Scotland, including a location in Portsoy Harbour, Aberdeenshire, where Murphy was also spotted in full-on Tommy attire alongside Finn Cole, who plays Michael Gray.

Things looked tense between the pair's characters in the pictures, and Michael - who conspired with wife Gina to overthrow Tommy in the finale - appeared to be dressed in prison scrubs as guards held him back from fighting with his cousin.

The good (and - ok, kind of obvious) news is that Tommy's appearance on set proves he is very much alive, following the final scene from season 5, where Murphy's character was filmed holding a gun to his head.

Of course, we could have told you that thanks to snaps of Cillian getting his hair cut on set, and promises of a Peaky Blinders movie - but it's nice to see Tommy back in action none-the-less.

The pictures don't really give anything else away at present, but we'll be keeping our eyes peeled on all the leaked shots from filming in the hopes that they might end up offering some hints about the plot.

The popular drama was shut down - like every other show - back in March 2020, as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

But now it has resumed filming, and the show's creator, Steven Knight, has confirmed that due to timing constrictions the series will be the last after originally intending to film seven instalments.

"Peaky is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher," he said.

"We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form."

Given the show is in production now, we're crossing our fingers it will be on screens by the end of the year, but we don't have a release date as of yet.

We'll update you as soon as we know more.
