Peaky Blinders fans have been patiently waiting for updates ever since season 5's dramatic finale aired last year.

But now the rumour mill has gone into overdrive after cast member Paul Anderson posted a cryptic Instagram post that's left everyone scratching their heads.

Paul - who plays Shelby gang member and all round loose canon Arthur - appeared to drop a hint when he shared a series of old set pictures with the caption: "Ciao bella, looks like he is somewhere in Small Heath getting ready for S6."

But it was the next part of his post that sent fans into meltdown, with Paul tagging none other than David Beckham, alongside director Guy Ritchie and actress Bella Thorne.

Tyla has contacted a representative for Paul Anderson for comment.

Die-hard fans PB might remember that Becks caused quite the stir last year when he shared a series of snaps from the set in Stockport, including one of him alongside a portrait of Shelby patriarch Tommy and one with creator Steven Knight.

It turned out the ex-footballer was actually launching a capsule collection based on the hit Netflix show, which he has called "one of his favourite series".

So could Becks really be on board for season 6, alongside Bella Thorne and Guy Ritchie? Only time will tell.

Has Peaky Blinders Season 6 Started Filming?

The next season of the Birmingham gangster series hasn't started filming yet, but its director, Anthony Byrne - who also worked on the last season - has said he was going to officially start working on the show at the end of last year - however, with lockdown throwing filming schedules into chaos, fans might be left waiting a little longer.

Speaking to GQ, he said: "I'm reading the scripts at the moment, which Steven [Knight] is writing. I start properly on series six in early November. Then we start shooting early next year, is the plan."

Given the fact the series is yet to start shooting, we're still a while off an official release date. However, judging by previous release dates, we can expect the season to premiere in early 2021.

Season 5 started shooting in September 2018 and premiered in August 2019, so we can likely expect a similar turnaround this time around.

Confirming our theory, Byrne kept it cryptic when quizzed on a release date, but said: "Maybe early 2021, something like that." We'll mark it in our calendars just in case.

Is Season 6 The Last Series Of Peaky Blinders?

Fortunately, season 6 isn't the final series of Peaky Blinders. It has always been pegged as the penultimate series.

Steven Knight has previously claimed that he plans for the seventh to be the last series, because he envisages Tommy Shelby will have reached the end of his "journey" and become a good man by then.

Speaking to NME, he said: "The destination for the whole show has always been the start of the Second World War, so the show is the story of the family between the wars. I really want to end it with Tommy being alright. I want Tommy to be good and on the side of the angels."

Naturally, Knight warned that there's a "lot of darkness" to come first, though.

Which Cast Members Will Be Returning For Peaky Blinders Season 6?

The cast have already received scripts for Peaky Blinders series 6 (
BBC)

According to IMDb, the first episode of Series 6 will see Cillian Murphy [Thomas Shelby], Helen McCrory [Aunt Polly], Paul Anderson [Arthur Shelby], Sophie Rundle [Ada Shelby], Finn Cole [Michael Gray], Brian Gleeson [Jimmy mcCavern], Packy Lee [Johnny Dogs] and Sam Claflin [Oswald Mosley].

We can also likely expect the likes of Finn Shelby [Harry Kirton] and Gina Gray [Anya Taylor-Joy] to be back, as well as The Billy Boys.

This is no surprise really given where season 5 left off.

Following his tragic death, Aidan Gillen won't be returning as Aberama Gold. However, Grace Shelby [Annabelle Wallis] will no doubt reappear as a hallucination given Tommy's continued vulnerable mental state.

Tom Hardy hasn't confirmed if he'll be back as Alfie Solomons in the new series, but given that he only returned at the end of season 5, it's likely there will be some story lines for him to tie up. For instance, was he the one who ratted out Tommy given the bad blood between the?

It also remains to be seen whether Linda Shelby will make a comeback after trying to shoot Arthur and subsequently being gunned down by Polly. She survived and left her devastated husband behind, but actress Kate Phillips has said she wouldn't rule out a return in the upcoming season.

Speaking to Digital Spy about her exit and whether she'd reconcile with Arthur, she said: "I was told in good faith that I wouldn't be out of the picture, but you never know.

"I can only hope so. I definitely felt like there's a lot of unfinished business there. They share a child together, there's definitely no chance Arthur would let Linda get away with Billy, so they're tied together, with the family connection, and obviously family is a big connection in Peaky Blinders.

"I'd like to think she's going to be around and maybe there might be some reconciliation to have, but also you know her fury is pretty palpable by the end of episode 5."

When Will Peaky Blinders Season 6 Be Set?

Season 5 of Peaky Blinders ended in 1932, and thanks to Bryne - and that cliffhanger - we know the sixth season will pick up right where it left off.

He told BBC Sounds' Obsessed With Peaky Blinders podcast: "I have read three of the scripts and they're great, I did say it feels like part one of two and that was purely based on the fact that you have this cliffhanger...

"I want to know what happens in the field, I had no idea, I mean I do now. I checked my email and episode one of series 6 had just arrived and I went 'Oh f*ck, do you want to know what happens after what we've just watched?'

"Then I sat on the couch and started reading it and my editor was sitting beside me just going 'Woah' and 'f*ck' - and I was like 'Do you know what page I'm on?' and I was like '46'. So I actually read the whole thing out loud. It was so compelling."

The show will continue to document the rise of fascism (
BBC)

Season 7 is supposed to end at the kick off of World War Two, so this season will proceed to pan across a few years and demonstrate the rise of facisim beforehand.

"In series 6 , we'll be looking at 1934 and things are worse. The drum beat is getting louder, tensions are worse and Tommy is right in the middle of all that," Knight told NME, describing scenes to come as a "tragedy.

"Again, it will be an exploration of what was going on in the '30s and how certain things transpired," he said.

What Spoilers Have Been Leaked About The Peaky Blinders Season 6 Plot?

Creator Knight has revealed that Season 6 will portray Tommy continuing as an MP in a time of increasing political unrest, and also show his "deeper and more dangerous" battle with PTSD progress.

Given everything that happened in Season 5, it's pretty fair to say that Tommy will also be keen to get to the bottom of who ratted out his plot to assassinate Owald Mosely. But who was responsible?

Could it have been Michael and his wife Gina, whose plan to take over the Shelby company was brutally shut down last season, or Billy Grade, who picked up the phone moments after Finn blurted out their plans? No doubt Tommy will get to the bottom of it throughout the sixth season.

Byrne also revealed that Season 6 will introduce us to Gina's American family, and hinted that their link to Oswald Mosley will be playing a big role in the upcoming storylines.

And there will be a "surprising historical figure" making an appearance too, Knight revealed on Reddit.

Due to Mosely's involvement in fascism, some fans of the show think that Adolf Hiltler could be making an appearance, seeing as he was reported to have attended his wedding in the 1930s. Al Capone was also suggested as a contender, but Knight said he was keen to stay away from "Chicago gangs," because they're too much of a "minefield".

Will There Be Any Celebrity Cameos in Season 6?

As it's got bigger, big names are said to be queuing up for a cameo in Peaky Blinders.

Stars such as Snoop Dogg, A$AP Rocky and Brad Pitt are all alleged to have expressed their interest, alongside Line Of Duty's Vicky McClure.

This Is England star Stephen Graham was reported to have joined the cast last year, although Knight added that they were saving him for a later season.

Julia Roberts has been rumoured to be making a cameo (
PA)

Meanwhile, Julia Roberts is also reportedly keen to join the cast, too. When quizzed on the BBC podcast about Julia's role in the drama, Knight said: "I don't know where that got out, but yeah, fingers crossed on that".

There could be other famous faces, too, as while Knight was originally keen to avoid viewers playing "spot the celebrity," he's willing to loosen the reins for the last two seasons.

"I think now we're coming to the final two series, I'm going to relax and open the gates a bit because there's some amazing people who want to be in it, and I think 'Why not?'," he explained.

"I am going to open the door to a couple of really good actors. Our actors are all fantastic, but what I mean is 'celebrated' actors who will be showing up in six."

We can't wait to see who he's got in store!

We'll keep you updated on Tyla with more info as we have it, but for now we're going to have to sit tight...
