Normal People's Paul Mescal has revealed he's looking forward to getting back into the dating game, post-lockdown.

The actor, 24, who plays Connell Waldron in the mega popular BBC series, explained he hasn't had the chance to meet anyone new or be "remotely intimate with anybody" since lockdown began.

Speaking to PJ Kirby and Kevin Twomey on the 'I'm Grand Mam' podcast, Paul said: "I'm really looking forward to dating.

"I'm trying not to think of it being weird because I think, we've been in lockdown for f**king months and I've had no opportunity to meet somebody new or being remotely intimate with anybody."

We've got a feeling Paul, who is currently living in London, won't have any trouble at all in securing a few dates post-lockdown. It seems the actor is also looking for something serious, though, explaining that if lockdown ever happens again, he wants to make sure he's married.

Again, we doubt that will be a struggle!

"I'm at the point now where I want to get married and settle down, you know that kind of hysterical thing? If lockdown ever happens again I'm making sure that I'm married. But yeah, I am looking forward to dating," he continued.

Since Normal People aired a few weeks ago, multi-talented Paul has been receiving a lot of attention. Not only is he a brilliant actor, but he can also sing *and* he turned a simple silver chain into a sex symbol.

But during the chat with PJ and Kevin, Paul explained that while he has appreciated all the attention he's been getting, he is wary that fans think of him as actually being Connell, instead of Paul.

"It's a weird thing when very quickly people are attracted to a character you play," he explained.

"I'm not Connell, I'm totally different to him. I think maybe what's sexy about Connell is he's that kind of classic back-footed, aloof, smart... I'm definitely not back footed or aloof.

"It was kind of fun at the start, I was like 'Oh, this is mad, people think that Connell's sexy.' And then a weird thing has crept in where people DM and there's a feeling that there's maybe an anticipation that I'm him.

"This is for the record - if anybody ever dates me, I am not Connell and nor do I want to be him."

Paul went on to explain that while he obvs loves Connell, he is just a character. To listen to the full interview, head over to the I'm Grand Mam Instagram page.
