Paddington Bear Is Taking His Adventures To The States With New TV Series

Paddington Bear Is Taking His Adventures To The States With New TV Series

Marmalade-loving Paddington Bear is getting his very own TV series which will see him pack up his suitcase to travel Stateside.

Following on from the success of the two movies, Ben Whishaw is set to return to voice the beloved bear in a brand new show set to air on Nickelodeon next year.

The channel has teamed up with Studiocanal - who created the two flicks - and producer David Heyman to create Paddington, a series aimed at pre-school children.

Each episode will kick off with the iconic children's character, originally created by Michael Bond, writing letters home to his Aunt Lucy from Windsor Gardens, telling her all about his day's adventures and what he has learnt along the way.

The character first made an appearance in October 1958 in the children's book A Bear Called Paddington.

"It is a joy to bring this uniquely life-enhancing bear to a whole new audience of younger children," executive producer David said of the new Paddington project in a statement. "We are thrilled that the inimitably brilliant Ben Whishaw will continue to voice Paddington."

Directing the new children's television series is Adam Shaw of Go Jetters fame, with Jon Foster and James Lamont (The Amazing World of Gumball) writing and developing it for TV.

Executive producer David previously worked on the two Paddington movies as well as the Harry Potter franchise. Joining him as executive producer is Rosie Alison (Paddington 1 and 2) and co-producer Rob Silva.

Nickelodeon will air the series worldwide in 2020. Ben has not yet commented on the new Paddington Bear series.

It could be a busy year for the actor as a third Paddington movie is in the works already, although it's thought to only be in the writing stages and doesn't yet have a filmmaker.

Needless to say, a TV series and chatter of a third Paddington movie is truly exciting.
