BBC has spent months gearing viewers up for the new series of Our Girl, dropping teasers and trailers galore, all the while keeping schtum on when exactly the military drama would be dropping.

But now, the show's star Michelle Keegan has finally let us in on the secret.

"ATTENTION! Georgie Lane is back and reporting for duty on Tuesday 24th March at 9pm @bbcone #ourgirl #georgielane," the actress, who plays lead character Georgie Lane, wrote on Instagram.

Yes, in less than two weeks, viewers will be reimbursed in all the explosive drama, as we follow army medic Sergeant Georgie Lane in her new role training medics in her native Lancashire with the RAMC.

However, when she has a chance encounter with her friends in Section 2, she learns they're about to embark on a tour of Afghanistan.

She resists joining them, happy in her comfortable role back at home, but when a near-fatal accident occurs during a night out, Georgie is forced to confront the real reason why she's scared of returning - because of the painful memories of losing her fiancé Elvis (played by the delightful Luke Pasqualino).

Ultimately, Georgie decides to confront her fears head-on.

"Can't wait. Love this programme," wrote a fan the 32-year-old's comments. "Buzzing!" added another.

It's set to be Keegan's last series in the role of Georgie Lane, with the BBC yet to confirm whether she'll be replaced.

"I've had the most incredible four years on the show," the actress said in a statement in January.

"Playing Georgie has been a life changing role for me. I've loved every second... so it was a very hard decision to make not to return."
