Old People's Home For 4 Year Olds viewers were touched by more emotional scenes last night, as 81-year-old pensioner Lilian ditched her walking stick to take part in an egg and spoon race with the kids.

The pensioner had previously told the cameras she 'couldn't get very far without' her aide as she suffered a fall two years before.

Lilian explained: "The short bursts I have in nursery I can do, but I find when I get outside the door I feel more secure if I've got my stick with me. I can't get very far without it."

Channel 4's docu-series sees four-year-olds head into an old people's home in a social experiment to spend time with one another. Former tap dancer Lilian had been encouraged to engage in more physical activity to improve her mobility during this week's episode.

And during the seventh week of the three-month experiment, the children and pensioners all took part in a sports day together.

As she took to the field, hand in hand with one of the kids, Lilian chucked away her walking stick so she could power walk to the finish line with an egg and spoon.

Viewers watching at home were touched by the scenes given her former confession, with one person exclaiming: "Lilian has just thrown her walking stick off to the side.. I'm not crying, you are [sic]!"

And a second shared: "Loving Lilian throwing away the walking stick with such confidence. Amazing! #oldpeopleshomefor4yearolds #besttvoftheweek."

"Lillian throwing her stick away was amazing - no you've got something in your eye!" posted a third, while a fourth added: "I just audibly gasped at Lillian chucking her stick! Good for her, what a trooper!"

It seems like Lilian shocked herself too, as she added: "I was surprised as anyone else to see my stick go flying, I just did it, just got rid of it. As easy as that."
