Candyman tells the story of artist Anthony (played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and his girlfriend Brianna (Teyonah Parris) who have just moved into a luxury condo in the Cabrini neighbourhood in Chicago - where fans will know the events of the original 1992 film were set.
Anthony hears about the urban legend of the Candyman - and becomes obsessed with investigating the story. But it seemingly doesn't go too well for him, when, after researching the terrifying killer (who is said to appear if you say his name five times in front of a mirror) we hear him say: "I think I made a mistake."
We also see Anthony stood in a mirrored lift saying Candyman's name before a piece of candy drops from the ceiling. Confused, Anthony opens it to find a razor blade inside the sweet.

Yikes.
"If you're out here looking for Candyman, if you ask me, stay away," a local tells Anthony.
"This neighbourhood is haunted," another adds.
But the newcomer isn't the only one to test the Candyman, as the trailer also shows pupils putting the theory to test in what appears to be the school toilets.
The official synopsis for the movie explains: "For as long as residents can remember, the housing projects of Chicago's Cabrini Green neighbourhood were terrorised by a word-of-mouth ghost story about a supernatural killer with a hook for a hand, easily summoned by those daring to repeat his name five times into a mirror.

"In present day, a decade after the last of the Cabrini towers were torn down, visual artist Anthony McCoy and his girlfriend, gallery director Brianna Cartwright, move into a luxury loft condo in Cabrini, now gentrified beyond recognition and inhabited by upwardly mobile millennials.
"With Anthony's painting career on the brink of stalling, a chance encounter with a Cabrini Green old-timer exposes Anthony to the tragically horrific nature of the true story behind Candyman.
"Anxious to maintain his status in the Chicago art world, Anthony begins to explore these macabre details in his studio as fresh grist for paintings, unknowingly opening a door to a complex past that unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifyingly viral wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny."
