If you were gripped by the silent terror of A Quiet Place visual killer of Bird Box, then you're definitely going to want to see Netflix's latest apocalyptic thriller, The Silence.
Based on the novel by Tim Lebbon, The Silence is set in a world where creatures hunt their prey by sound (yep, just like A Quiet Place). The family which the film is based around are forced to seek refuge in a remote location (definite Bird Box vibes here), but when they arrive, they find a sinister cult who wants to take advantage of their daughter's increased senses.
The Silence is directed by Annabelle's John Leonetti and is set to land on Netflix on 10th April.
Starring The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina's Kiernan Shipka, Stanley Tucci, Miranda Otto, John Corbett, Kate Trotter and Kyle Breitkopt, the trailer looks set to give even the classic cult horrors a run for their money.
The synopsis reads: "When the world is under attack from terrifying creatures who hunt their human prey by sound, 16-year old Ally Andrews (Kiernan Shipka), who lost her hearing at 13, and her family seek refuge in a remote haven.
"But they discover a sinister cult who are eager to exploit Ally's heightened senses. The Silence is directed by John R. Leonetti (Annebelle) and stars Stanley Tucci, Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, John Corbett, Kate Trotter and Kyle Breitkopf."
Speaking of his news role, Tucci told IGN: "I've done sci-fi movies like Transformers, but I've never done anything quite like this."
He continued: "The Silence is a combination of horror, thriller, and drama. I liked how sparse the writing was; a lot of it is without words, which allows John to do really interesting things visually as a director, and for us actors to communicate in other ways."
The Silence is set to hit Netflix on 11th April 2019.
