PSA: The Kissing Booth 2 has finally been given a release date.

The hotly anticipated Netflix sequel will land on the streaming platform 24th July.

Actress Joey King, who plays lead Elle Evans in the teen romantic comedy, announced the news live on YouTube on 21st May.

The original film was one of the most re-watched Netflix movies of 2018 and began life as a book series by Beth Reefles.

Prior to that, the book was a story on Wattpad that Beth wrote when she was just 15 years old.

The plot followed Elle Evans and her long-time best friend Lee (Joel Courtney) as they navigate the teen dramas of their junior year in high school.

Despite their closeness, Elle hides a secret from Lee: she's in love with his motorbike-riding older brother, Noah (Jacob Elordi). Hey, who doesn't love a biker jacket, right?

The original film had an ambiguous ending, with Noah disappearing off to college without so much as turning over his shoulder (although, admittedly, Elle did ask him not to look back).

Emotionally invested fans were naturally left with questions about the couple's relationship status, so what can we expect from the sequel?

The Kissing Booth 2 will reportedly pick up where the first movie left off, with Elle having just spent a romantic summer with her not-so-bad-boy boyfriend Noah.

Now that Noah has set off to Harvard, Elle heads back to high school for her senior year.

Our female lead will have to juggle a long-distance relationship with submitting applications for her dream college, and her friendship with BFF Lee (Joel).

Things inevitably get complicated when a handsome, charismatic new classmate named Marco (Taylor Zakhar Perez) comes into the picture. Eek!

Meanwhile, Noah grows close to a seemingly-perfect college girl (Maisie Richardson-Sellers). Drama incoming.

Elle will have to decide how much she trusts him and where her affections truly lie.

Fans of the franchise only have a matter of weeks before they get the answers they crave.
