Netflix has just dropped the trailer for Lucifer Season 5 - and it was definitely worth the wait...

You can check it out below:

Announcing the trailer, Netflix said: "Based on this trailer we're pleased to confirm Lucifer still looks devilishly good."

And if the clip is anything to go by, it seems Season 5 is going to be seriously dramatic. The trailer shows Tom Ellis' character, Lucifer, returning from the depths of hell, but there's something very different about him now.

It turns out the new 'Lucifer' is actually his twin brother, Michael.

And fans are going crazy about the twist. One wrote: "So it's Michael who kisses chloe wow it's just not what we wanted, we wanted lucifer and chloe but oh well I'm hyped for the season."

While another said: "OMFG!!! Michael!! No way!!"

In case you need a recap, the show focuses on lead character Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) - a fallen angel, cast out of Heaven for betrayal. His character is based on the DC Comics character created by Neil Gaiman for The Sandman comic-book series.

Tired of residing in Hell, Lucifer relocates to Los Angeles and begins running a club. He becomes involved with the local police, working as a consultant with the LAPD and helping them solve tricky criminal cases.

The emotional end of the fourth season left fans on the edge of their seats, with many desperate to know the outcome of Lucifer's romance with Detective Chloe Decker.

Showrunner Ildy Modrovich recently teased some clues on Twitter after fans begged for information relating to the couple's future. In a rather cryptic tweet, Ildy shared three tantalising emojis alongside the fans' questions: a key, a fist and a kiss. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Last week, Netflix finally announced a release date for Season 5 - and they've did so in the *best* way.

Releasing a clip of Lucifer's sexiest moments, the streaming platform has revealed the next instalment will drop on 21st August.

It cannot come soon enough...
