Netflix Is Now Streaming One Of The Highest Grossing Films 'The Wandering Earth'
Netflix has just landed one of the highest grossing films in the world, and while you might be forgiven for assuming it's one of Marvel's big hits like Captain Marvel, it's actually Chinese-made hit, The Wandering Earth.
Many westerners might not be familiar with the film, which is currently ranked the third highest ranked film in the world, but it's currently China's second-highest grossing film of all time.
The Wandering Earth tells the story of people trying to save earth from being destroyed by the sun, based on a science fiction novel of the same name.
It's reported Netflix bought the film in a bid to draw in more Chinese audiences, promising to translate it into 28 different languages, which is an impressive achievement for a non-Hollywood film.
The level of production given the film is rarely seen in Chinese films, with special effects taking up to two years to complete. The film also included more than 10,000 specially-built props with a whopping 2,000 special effects shots.
The Wandering Earth has already been translated into English for UK Netflix and US, meaning viewers subscribing to the streaming service can already enjoy the hit film.

The film sees a group of astronauts guiding the earth away from the expanding sun, while desperately trying to avoid a collision with Jupiter.
Its official release was 5th February of this year, to coincide with the Chinese New Year's Day, and was released by China Film Group Corporation. A few days later, on 8th February, it was released in North America and Australia.
It grossed at more than $700 million (£537 million), with $693 million (£532 million) of that being in China.
The Hollywood Reporter described it as "China's first full-scale interstellar spectacular," while it received 74 per cent on film ranking site Rotten Tomatoes.
The Wandering Earth is available to stream on UK and US Netflix now.
