The Halloween season is firmly upon us and if you're looking for a movie that's more sultry than spooky, then An Affair to Die For may be right up your street.
The steamy thriller, which sounds like a mix of Fifty Shades of Grey, Indecent Proposal and Saw, was added to Netflix UK today (Tuesday, 22 October) after a limited run in US cinemas earlier this year.
The flick stars Meet Joe Black's Claire Forlani, who portrays a professor, Holly, who engages in an affair with her student Everett (played by Jake Abel) but as the title suggests, their illicit dalliance goes anything but smoothly.
Soon their secret rendezvous in Aspen turns to psychological and physical torture when Holly's husband Russell (Titus Welliver) shows up and boy, is he ready to make it a weekend they never forget.
The police security expert forces Everett to go along with the affair after initially tying him up, while wife Holly settles in for what she believes is another steamy break away.
After his initial heist, Russell forces the student to continue with the affair while he watches, or else people will die - or as the trailer suggests a severed finger.
The description of the erotic thriller reads on the streaming service: "When a mysterious figure blackmails an adulterous couple during a romantic getaway, their secret affair turns into a fight for survival."
Not your average Halloween flick that's for sure.
The film was directed by Victor Garcia, whose horror credits include directing Hellraiser: Revelations, The Damned, and the 30 Days of Night: Blood Trails mini-series while the script was written by first-timer Elliott San.
Don't take our word for it as US viewers have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the flick, which was added to Netflix earlier in the summer.
One penned: "An Affair To Die For - What is this, Saw for married people?"
"So is 'an affair to die for' da plot twist crazy asl!!!!!" (sic), another wrote. "The movie I'm watching is called an affair to die for. This movie is crazy as hell."
A fourth viewer shared: "An Affair to Die For is a messed up movie".
