Six seasons feels suitably demonic, no?

Netflix have confirmed that devilishly popular series Lucifer will get a sixth and final season.

The news will be welcomed by the show's die-hard 'Lucifans', though some may be disappointed that the possibility of multiple seasons has now been ruled out.

Netflix UK and Ireland tweeted the news today, saying: "We couldn't resist making Season 666 - Lucifer will be back for a sixth and final season. And we mean *final* this time."

The show - which follows Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis), a fallen angel who is cast out of Heaven for betrayal and relocates to Los Angeles (obviously!) - has a loyal following to say the least.

A heartfelt #SaveLucifer campaign on social media meant the Biblical series was revived by Netflix after being exorcised from the Fox network.

As yet, there's no air date for the sixth season - but in the meantime, fans will be preoccupied with season 5, which we learned earlier this week will drop on 21st August.

Way to keep the hype going, Netflix.

Earlier this week, the streaming service announced the hotly-anticipated release date for Lucifer Season 5 in the best way possible.

Releasing a compilation of Lucifer's sexiest moments, the entertainment platform teased the next instalment.

Fans will be looking for answers from the fifth season, after the emotional finale of the fourth left them desperate to know the outcome of Lucifer's romance with Detective Chloe Decker.

Showrunner Ildy Modrovich recently teased some clues on Twitter after fans begged for information relating to the couple's future.

In a rather cryptic tweet, Ildy shared three tantalising emojis alongside the fans' questions: a key, a fist and a kiss.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?! Some fans think it indicates that Chloe is going to be involved in some kind of fight and provide the key to get Lucifer out of hell.

Whatever the answer, the next instalment can't come soon enough.

Season 5 of Lucifer drops on Netflix 21st August. An air date for the sixth and final season is yet to be announced.
