Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans have been waiting a long time for season six to come around, but with a brand-new channel it's officially almost here.

NBC has just dropped the very first trailer for the new series and not only does it show the gang back together, but it also hints at the huge cliffhanger left behind by the season five finale.

The teaser trailer isn't the longest we've ever seen, but it does give a big nod to the direction the new series is headed as it airs on NBC for the first time since Fox revealed it wouldn't be renewing the cop comedy.

It begins with Charles Boyle and Jake Peralta handling some heavy artillery, before the whole squad reunite to toast the Nine-Nine.

However, the final scene of the teaser is definitely the most prominent as it shows a joyful Jake dancing around Captain Holt, who simply looks despondent.

The rest of the gang yell at Jake to stop, which we assume is a huge nod to the cliffhanger left at the end of series five, when Captain Holt launched a campaign to become the new Commissioner, finally getting an email to confirm whether he received the promotion.

As the series ended, it was impossible to tell whether he'd been successful in getting the promotion, thanks to his blank expression.

However, judging by the squad's reaction to Jake's dancing, it would suggest that he did not get the job after all, which is certainly sad news.

The new series comes has come with a long and painful wait for fans after Fox decided to cancel the comedy after season five.

After a huge outcry from fans all over social media, NBC announced the very next day that they would be picking it up for a sixth season, and we can't wait.
