Narcos fans, you can now catch a glimpse of the new series, thanks to Netflix dropping a first look as well as an official launch date.

We will see Diego Luna back on our TV screens as Félix Gallardo, leader of the Guadalajara Cartel and big time drug dealer - which is actually a bit of an understatement as he founded the modern Mexican drug trade and made it into an empire.

While Scoot McNairy, who we briefly glimpsed in the Narcos: Mexico's first season, will return as Walt Breslin, a hardened DEA agent whose methods aren't always by the book.

The pair will be on our screens on 13th February, the official launch date of season two of the follow-on to Narcos, announced today by the streaming platform on social media.

The original Narcos, which was set in Colombia based on Pablo Escobar's life and reign, ran for two seasons starting in 2015.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new series will chronicle "the missteps, ill-conceived agendas, and corruption on both sides of the border that have led to a dangerous present in the failed war on drugs".

The first look trailer opens on Félix and is captioned: "Everybody's hungry for something.

"If you flinch even the toughest beast ends up in a cage."

The show will be set in the mid 1980s and "Félix Gallardo's super cartel splinters under its own dark weight and social and political shifts within Mexico prompt its desperate government's most brazen corruption."

THR adds: "Meanwhile, the American effort to exact revenge for Kiki Camerana's execution leads them further away from any hope for justice. The cycle of violence rages on."

*Spoiler alert*

It follows on from the first season, which centred around the 1980s Mexican drug trafficking world of independent growers and dealers.

DEA Kiki Camarena had upped and moved to Guadalajara to try and take down the drug trade and had taken his wife and son with him, but those that watched it will know this ended in his tragic death.

Which is why in season two, new DEA Walt is at the helm and has been tasked with taking down those responsible for Kiki's death.

Narcos: Mexico Season 2 will be available to watch on Netflix on 13th February 2020.
