Framing Britney Spears will air on Tuesday at 9pm on Sky Documentaries and is also available for those with the NOW TV entertainment pass.

The documentary is described by its creators as detailing "the meteoric rise and disturbing fall of Britney Spears... as it has devolved into a Kafkaesque court battle that has reawakened her fandom and raised pressing questions about mental health and an individuals' rights.

"A re-examination of her career and a new assessment of the movement rallying against her court-mandated conservatorship capture the unsavoury dimensions of the American pop-star machine."

Fans who have already seen the 90 minute one-off doc have been left open-mouthed at the outrageously sexist, shocking and upsetting way Britney was pedalled to her audience even as a young teen.

From being asked about whether she was still a virgin at a press conference, to another outwardly asking her about her breasts, to Diane Sawyer shockingly telling Britney how one woman wanted "to shoot her" for her "overtly sexual" example she is setting for children.

Justin Timberlake also faced heavy criticism, after many perceived him to have built his solo career around his humiliation of Britney as he hammed up allegations that she was unfaithful towards the end of their relationship. He also bragged about taking her virginity live on radio.

After it aired in the States, a number of viewers have taken to Twitter and have called for journalists and talk-show hosts to apologise to Britney after making her a regular punchline and punching bag throughout the noughties and even after her breakdown.

Justin has also issued an apology to the star - you can read more about that here.
