Luther creator Neil Cross has said that the team is planning to "make more Luther" soon, which means it looks like our favourite detective will be returning to our screens in the near future.
*Does happy dance*
Speaking to Radio Times about more Luther coming our way, he said: "Ask Idris! We are - I don't know what I'm allowed to say, which is an answer in of itself! Words are my job and I've lost them all.
"We wanna make more Luther. We're gonna make more Luther. The how and the why, that's all to come, but we're gonna make more Luther."
While the answer was in response to questioning regarding a Luther movie, we've got everything crossed for a new season too. Either way, more Luther is definitely a good thing!
Back in August, Idris Elba put us all out of our misery and confirmed that DCI John Luther will be hitting our screens once more as the hit BBC series will be made into a feature length film.
The popular crime drama finished its fifth series back in January 2019, culminating in a week-long event which aired all four episodes back-to-back.
Speaking to the press on after receiving one of BAFTA's highest honours, the BAFTA Special Award at the Virgin Media BAFTA Television awards, Idris said: "I've maintained I'd like to see it come to a film, and that is where I think we are heading towards - a film. And I'm looking forward to making that happen. It is happening."

And that wasn't the first time he broached the idea either, telling LADBible back in 2018 that: "For me it would be nice to take Luther up a scale. Make the storyline bigger, make it slightly more international."
Created by Neil Cross, Luther first hit our screens in 2010 and to date Elba has won two Golden Globes and a Royal Television Society best actor award for his performance. The hit series also made a star of Ruth Wilson who played narcissistic murderer Alice Morgan, who shares a love-hate, cat-and-mouse relationship with John throughout the series.
We need this new film or series to happen ASAP!
