Monsters, Inc. has become one of Disney and Pixar's most beloved films since it came out in 2001, Sulley, Mike and of course Boo have become favourites for many generations of fans.
As the story goes, two monsters - Sulley and Mike - are employed at the titular energy producing factory Monsters, Inc. which generates power by scaring children.
When Boo accidentally enters through the door leading to the factory, Sulley and Mike must find a way to return her home before it's too late. Sulley grows attached to her and calls her "Boo" because it's one of the few words she can say.

In the two decades that have passed since the film came out, most fans only knew Boo by the nickname given to her by Sulley. But some fans have noticed that she actually writes her real name at on a piece of paper at one point in the film.
Fans will remember that Boo loves drawing and like any professional artist, she signs her masterpieces with her name. If you pause the scene where Boo is in bed and surrounded by her drawings you'll see the name "Mary" written at the top.
Mary is Boo's real name and our minds have collectively blown.

Pixar is well known for sneaking in little Easter eggs like this into their films but many of them happen to be references to other Pixar films or teasers for a future film.
In fact, one of the toys Boo (aka Mary) gives Sulley towards the end of Monsters, Inc. is a clownfish and the most famous clownfish in the world is Nemo from Finding Nemo, which came out two years after Monsters, Inc.
In an even more surprising turn of events, the actress who voiced Boo is called Mary Gibbs.
How did we not realise this connection before?!
In other Monsters, Inc. news, a TV spin-off series is set to debut on Disney+ in July. It takes place six months after the events in the film where the city of Monstropolis is making the transition to be fuelled by the sound of laughter.

Tylor Tuskmon, a recent Scare Major graduate from Monsters University, working as a mechanic in the Facilities Team, dreams of working alongside his idols, Mike and Sulley Sullivan.
John Goodman and Billy Crystal will be back to voice Sulley and Mike respectively, although Boo is not set to appear.
