Microsoft has been widely praised for its advert featuring children with additional needs, which aired during the Super Bowl football match on Sunday.

The new commercial is obviously here to promote the tech company's new adaptive controller for Xbox, but it makes a truly important point on inclusivity.

Microsoft's advert centres on a group of boys and girls, who are all keen gamers, but have struggled to use the regular controllers that are the standard with tech purchases.

However, the new adaptive controller now allows anyone with limited mobility to create their own custom versions to cater to their own needs so "everyone can play".

One of the children, Owen, can be seen using the new product, and his dad tells the camera: "One of the biggest fears, early on is 'how will Owen be viewed by the other kids? He's not different when he plays."

Other parents in the advert are then seen echoing the same sentiments, and for their wish for their children to always be included.

Twitter users have heaped on the praise for the touching yet poignant Microsoft advert, with some calling it the 'best ad of the night'.

Giving their thoughts on the one minute, 45 second commercial, one person wrote: "@microsoft just won the award for best commercial. I love the original one where they show the young boy winning the video game. They just took it to another level by telling his story. Way to go Microsoft."

"Microsoft just won the SuperBowl," added another fan of the ad.

While a third declared: "Cheers to @microsoft for highlighting children with different abilities in its inspiring #superbowl ad. Way to represent!"

The technology company's advert was one of many aired during the American football match on Sunday, with others including Disney Pixar's highly anticipated Toy Story 4 teaser and Hulu's Handmaid's Tale preview for season three.
