Love Island's Michael Griffiths came face-to-face with Joanna Chimonides on last night's Aftersun - and awkward is the only word to describe it.

The tense reunion marked the first time the couple had seen each other since Joanna branded Michael a "f***ing snake" before leaving the villa a week ago.

When asked about the Liverpudlian staying in the villa when she was dumped from the Island, Joanna said: "At that point it was so disappointing. It's a bit embarrassing.

"Looking back on it I'm a strong independent woman. I went in on my own."

The 23-year-old then reflected on how she felt after Michael's admission that he still had feelings for Amber in the days following her dumping from the Island.

Speaking to show host Caroline Flack, she said: "It was a bit shocking. I knew there was a possibility of him going back to Amber. But I didn't think it would happen that soon."

After attempting to defend his actions, the 27-year-old admitted that he wanted to speak to Joanna off-camera to sort their relationship out after he claimed he thought about her every day.

He told Caroline: "I want to speak to Joanna, to be honest. The whole thing has been only my mind the whole time."

And while the whole interaction was awkward, the tense face-to-face was made all the worse by Anton Danyluk's mum Sherie Ann, who heckled the firefighter, 27, as he sat down.

The 55-year-old, whose son Anton was best pals with Michael on the Island, exclaimed: "Don't do it Joanna" as the former couple came out to discuss their experience in the villa.

And the exchange had viewers in a fit of laughter as they took to Twitter to applaud her rib-tickling comment.

One fan penned: "Anton's mum screaming 'don't do it' to Joanna as she sat down next to Michael is INCREDIBLE".

"Can't we put Anton's mum in the villa she's funny," another asked.

A third echoed their sentiments: "Anton's Mum is hilarious I can't cope!!"

Love Island continues on ITV2 at 9pm tonight.
