McCauley Culkin Reacts To News Of 'Home Alone' Remake Amid Public Fury

Now, the man that everyone has been waiting to hear from has waded in.

The film's star Macaulay Culkin, 38, who played Kevin McCallister in the 1990 comedy responded to the news with a hilarious photo of himself eating pasta in his pants by his laptop, captioned: "This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like."

Underneath, he tagged the production company, saying: "Hey @Disney, call me!"

He clearly hasn't lost his sense of humour!

The tweet follows the news that following purchasing 20th Century Fox, Disney would be making plans to bring out new versions of several of their most popular titles, including the Macaulay Culkin classic.

It's not yet clear what form the remakes will take, or when we can expect them to hit our screens.

Home Alone was first released in 1990, and tells the story of eight-year-old Kevin McCallister, who is accidentally left at home while his family head on a trip to Paris. While at first Kevin is excited about being in an empty house, he gets the shock of his life when two con men attempt to rob it right under his nose.

One of the main criticisms of the upcoming reboot is that the plot line simply wouldn't hold up in 2019.

Within seconds of discovering Kevin was lost, his mum could surely log on to Find My Friends, WhatsApp one of her neighbours to check on him, or FaceTime him herself (he's surely got his own iPhone).

And don't even get us started on the sophisticated alarm systems that are knocking around these days.

It's something that Google have even imagined already. Released last Christmas, the tech company recruited Macaulay Culkin to cleverly reimagine Home Alone in the modern age using Google Assist.
