Netflix is the gift that keeps on giving - the streamer has announced the second half of Lupin will premiere this summer.

The streaming giant has been smashing it out the park with some of its recent releases, with Bridgerton, Bling Empire and Night Stalker becoming essential viewing during lockdown.

The French-language crime thriller debuted earlier this month and received rave reviews and is a contemporary reimagining of the Arsène Lupin series of novels by Maurice Leblanc.

It follows Assane Diop (played by Omar Sy) whose life is turned upside down when his father died after being accused of a crime he didn't commit.

Now 25 years on, Assane turns criminal mastermind and gets inspiration from a book about gentleman thief Arsène Lupin to seek revenge.

The second half of season one also features five episodes directed by Ludovic Bernard (The Climb) and Hugo Gélin (Love at Second Sight).

The series has been streamed by 70M households since its launch, becoming the first French series to make it into Netflix's top 10 list in the US and UK.

It has also reached the top spot in France, Brazil, Vietnam, Argentina, Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Sweden and more.

In case you missed it, Bridgerton has officially been renewed for a second season, with production starting this spring.

Netflix confirmed the news last Thursday with a letter written by Lady Whistledown which was posted on the show's social media channels.

Bridgerton's return follows the monumental success of its first season which dropped on the streaming platform on Christmas Day.

The second instalment of the steamy period drama is set to focus on Daphne's brother Anthony and his pursuit of a wife, according to an intriguing 'pamphlet' written by none other than Lady Whistledown that's circulating on social media.
