Lucifans, you are one huge leap closer to season 5 part 2.

As many will know, Netflix's fantasy drama Lucifer is being released in two parts this time, with the first part dropping in last August.

Back in March, filming for the hellish show was halted due to coronavirus, but Netflix decided that instead of making fans wait, they'd release the season in two parts: 5A and 5B.

Now, TV Line is reporting that the show will resume filming the remainder of season 5 - the 16th episode and season finale - on 24th September.

The outlet reports that sources have said that after filming the final episode, production will segway straight into the sixth and final season.

As for when we might actually get 5B, actor Tom Ellis, who stars as Lucifer, recently dropped a few hints as to when it might air.

Season 5 part 2 could be airing as early as Christmas (

Speaking to the Pilot TV podcast, he said: "The second eight epsiodes, I'm not sure when they're going to drop because we've still got the finale [to finish filming].

"We were about halfway through it. So we go back, we start with that, and then we go straight into season six.

"So hopefully that'll be ready to go, I would imagine, sort of Christmastime or early next year."

What a Christmas present that would be!

If you're wondering what we might see in part 2, showrunner Joe Henderson gave some rather cryptic insights to Entertainment Tonight.

"Let's just say that season 5B is our most emotional season of the series so far," he started.

"Our most emotional chunk for all of the darkness in 5A. Lightness is mixed in but I feel like 5A started a little darker. 5B will be both brighter and even darker still and it's always darkest before the dawn."

So lots of light and dark to expect, guys.

Until then (if you haven't already), you can watch part 1 of Lucifer of Netflix now.

Happy bingeing!
