Emotions were running high in last night's episode of Love Island Aftersun, as Lucie Donlan and Joe Garratt were finally reunited after almost four weeks apart

While the former couple - who got together at the very start of the show - didn't have the smoothest start to their relationship, things were seemingly going from strength to strength before the 22-year-old sandwich maker was kicked out following a brutal dumping by Love Island viewers.

After being separated from her beau, Lucie made her intentions for BFF Tommy Fury clear, and has constantly made a beeline for the Manchester-born boxer much to the frustration of his current love Molly-Mae Hague.

And Lucie was forced to discuss her feelings for Tommy as she finally met up with Joe following being booted from the villa last week.

As they sat down to chat on a bench, Lucie asks him: "Was it weird watching me stay on there?", to which he replied: "Yeah because I forgot I was even in there."

Lucie continued: "I was with you for two weeks and it was amazing and there was nothing the same as what we had in there but then I did tell Tommy I liked him."

A surprised-yet-understanding Joe went on to explain he understands the pressure put on a relationship in the Love Island villa, with potential couples forced to spend every waking hour together.

In an unexpected twist, Lucie appears to have now back-pedaled on her feelings for Tommy, saying such intense living arrangements mean you can end up falling for anyone.

Lucy was torn between Joe and Tommy during the first week of the ITV 2 dating show, but she ultimately chose to couple up with the floppy-haired hunk before Tommy found love with Instagram influencer Molly.

Joe came under fire for expressing concerns about Lucie's friendship with Tommy, with both viewers and charity campaigners dubbing him controlling and accusing him of "emotionally manipulative" behavior.

Despite Lucy's insistence there was nothing romantic going on between them, Joe remained unhappy at the amount of time the pair were spending together, branding it "strange" and "disrespectful."

However following Lucie's admission Joe's fears were confirmed, and the 22-year-old wasted no time issuing a savage response on his social media page, tweeting: "Always trust your gut instincts."

While Lucie confirmed in last night's episode that she's now placed Joe firmly in the friend-zone, only time will tell if there's a future for Jucie.
