Over the last 24 hours, many media outlets have reported that the applications for this year's Love Island will close end of today, Monday 29 April.

Determined to ensure you get the most accurate information, Pretty 52 went directly to the press team at Love Island to confirm this was accurate and that your chance of being this year's big star really did only have only a few more hours to become a reality.

In delightful news for those of you who dream of spending this summer by a pool gossiping about boys (or girls), the producers exclusively confirmed to us that application is, in fact, open until July 15th. Leaving you plenty of time to get island ready and, in fact, leaving you with a chance to check out the talent before you apply to the show.

While the broadcast date isn't yet confirmed, in previous years the show has aired in the first week of June.

Hardcore fans will know that once the show begins, new contestants regularly enter the villa and they often apply after the show has begun (who can forget Jack Fincham's ex, Ellie Jones, who many fans were angry had gone into the villa once she knew Jack was inside).

If you are keen to enter, we have a useful tip for making sure your application doesn't get culled. Love Island bosses warn potential Islanders to ensure their application photos and videos are filter-free otherwise they might be rejected at the first hurdle.

For the application for the reality dating show, you are required on the website to upload a "short and snappy" clip explaining why you think you would make a great Islander, and it must be no longer than one minute.

You then need to upload a headshot picture and a full length photo, and then you have the option to upload another three of your own.

The videos and images must be clear and well lit, and it warns you against using filters - so maybe avoid that butterfly crown on Snapchat you love so much this time.

ITV2 confirmed to Pretty52 that the closing date for applications close mid July - and Love Island's website states the exact date as 15th July 2019, so act fast if you want to bag yourself a spot in the famed Majorcan villa.

The series is also expected to return on Monday, 3rd June as it usually airs during the first week of June - although ITV is yet to officially confirm this date.

While the latter two dates may seem conflicting, casting continues throughout the series for late entrances for Islanders.

As well as filter-free snaps, you will also need to be over 18, be available for eight weeks from May 2019 for filming, be single and looking for love.

After the website application, there is then an audition process and a number of interviews with the show's producers.

And seeing as reports estimated that for the 2018 series there was around 85,000 applications for Love Island, you'll be up against plenty of competition so make sure you stand out!
