'Love Island' Stars Luke M And Luke T's Bromance Is So Pure
A good old bromance has become a regular trope in the mad world of Love Island, yet the friendship between the two Lukes in the current winter series hits different.
We've seen strong male friendships in abundance throughout the six series of the ITV reality show - from Chris and Kem, to Doctor Alex and Jack and Tommy and Curtis - but none have been quite as pure as that of Luke Mabbott and Luke Trotman's.
The pair were late arrivals to the villa, walking in alongside one another at first as a treat for the girls and a threat to the boys. Their status as the newbies no doubt solidified their budding friendship, as the 24-year-old heating engineer and 22-year-old semi-pro footballer confided in one another about their crushes.
They're cuddly, they ask each other how they're feeling and displays of toxic masculinity are entirely absent. Yes, we basically whimpered at the sight of Luke T stroking Luke M's leg and back to keep him warm as they chatted with the lads on the day beds.
If they're having girl problems, the two Lukes are the first to comfort one another. And if things are going well for one Luke, the other shares in their joy. When Siannise Fudge made her speech saying she'd decided to stick with Luke T after Casa Amor, Luke M couldn't wipe the smile off his face, knowing his pal had stayed loyal too and they were about to reunite.
His expression was honestly so pure you wouldn't be alone if you were left with stinging eyes.
In Sunday night's show, new girl Natalia Zoppa, who Luke M brought back from Case Amor, revealed to the Justin Bieber look-a-like she wasn't interested, telling him: "Obviously you're attractive but I don't know if I feel the sexual chemistry."
It's Luke's second knock-back in the villa - after Jess Gale left him for Mike Boateng - so he was naturally left feeling dejected, but his best mate Luke T was quickly at his side to comfort him.
Luke T and Siannise embraced their friend while Luke T asked for his "own hug" afterwards, too. The footballer later asked if the northerner wanted him to sleep on the sofa with him, after he decided to leave the bed to Natalia. Can't cope.
We all need a friendship like this in our lives - and hoards of fans online agree.
While viewing figures have dipped alongside grumblings of overkill on this year's debut winter slot, there's one thing the public have been unable to fault: the two Lukes' friendship.
Petition to have friendship couples, ITV, 'cause Luke M and Luke T would be our winners.
Love Island continues tonight.
