As she returned to screens for the first time since her close friend Caroline's death, Laura Whitmore poignantly dedicated the episode to her - her voice shaking as she spoke.
"The past week has been extremely difficult, coming to terms with the loss of our friend and colleague, Caroline," she said.
"Caroline loved Love Island. She loved love, and that's why tonight's final is dedicated to her.
"We're thinking of her family and everyone who knew her at this time."

The programme then showed a moving montage of Caroline doing what she did best, from her infamous slow walk into the villa to her infectious chuckle.
It comes after the islanders were told about Caroline's death off camera ahead of the final.
"That tribute was absolutely perfect, Caroline was such a shining light and her loss is felt around the world. Good job @LoveIsland @thewhitmore @IainDoesJokes that can't have been easy xx #LoveIsland,"one wrote.
While another added: "I loved the tribute that @LoveIsIandUK paid to @carolineflack1 it was beautiful. Caroline flack will always be remembered. Miss her so much on TV #LoveIsland#CarolineFlack #CarolineFlackRIP".

A third chipped in: "Seeing the tribute, i can only hope shes smiling and found the peace she so rightfully deserved. We'll miss you Caroline".
Laura Whitmore also used the season finale as an opportunity to announce that Summer Love Island would indeed be going ahead this year.
Before Caroline's passing, the summer series had been expected to run as normal, but following on from her death there had been questions raised as to whether it would still go ahead.

However as the episode drew to a close, Laura finally quashed speculation the show would be cancelled - although it is not yet known if she will be returning as a host.
The finale was an emotional one all round last night, as we also saw the couples make their final speeches to each other.
Then, as the vote closed Paige Turley and Finn Tapp were crowned this year's winners, narrowly tipping Luke Trotman and Siannise Fudge to the post.
