'Love Island' Fans Praise Amber For Standing Up For Herself

"Amber may be a bit arrogant but she’s right about the Tommy thing, no one wants to be a second choice and have the man come running back."

Love Island viewers were living for Amber Gill's sassy snub of Tommy Fury last night as he tried grafting her "even harder" after being rejected by Lucie Donlan.

In the first round of recouplings on Tuesday night, Tommy was torn between partnering up with Amber or Lucie, ultimately deciding to go with the latter and causing a fair bit of drama between the surfer and Joe Garratt.

But as Lucie made it clearer to Tommy that she was happy with the catering company owner, the professional boxer tried it on with Amber once again.

As Amber and Tommy chatted on the beanbags about potentially coupling up, the beautician made it clear that she wasn't going to be anybody's second choice, and wasn't going to be blinkered over the boxer's real motives to the chat.

Tommy declared in the beach hut: "I'm going to have to graft even harder. I'm going to get two shovels out now, to prove to her she wasn't a second option."

"I know what you are doing, I'm not daft," Amber stated as he laid it on thick.

While viewers may not have warmed to Amber straight away, namely due to a few 'ageist' comments she made to Callum Macleod, viewers praised the Islander for 'knowing her worth' as she walked away from the conversation.

"Unpopular opinion: Amber may be a bit arrogant but she's right about the Tommy thing, no one wants to be a second choice and have the man come running back to you after being rejected," shared one on Twitter.

And another took to the social media platform to say: "I wish people would stop hating on Amber. I'm not crazy about her attitude but she made a good point about Tommy being too serious with her, especially considering that she's clearly his second choice. I also like that she wasn't fooled by his pretending otherwise."

"As much as Amber comes across as a b*tch, when she explained that Tommy hasn't talked to her ALL DAY and then tries to convince her she's his first choice last minute. Umm jog on mate. Glad Amber stood up for herself. More girls need to be like that," offered a third.

And a final tweeted: "Fair play Amber ain't daft is she. Saw right through Fury and the bullsh*t he was spouting. Owned."

Maybe Tommy will have better luck with new Islander, Molly-Mae Hague...
