Connor Durman was voted out of the Love Island villa by the fellow islanders this week, in one of the most savage twists of the series so far.

And now, in the first interview since his exit, he has pledged to wait for Sophie Piper back in the UK.

Despite 25-year-old Connor promising to hold out for Sophie, 21, he admitted he was under no illusion she'd stay loyal to him.

"I will wait for her. I'm in no rush to meet someone else," he said. "It's still early on in the villa. Her head could be turned."

Connor, who was booted off after being voted as viewers' least favourite islander, went on: "I want her to enjoy the experience. It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

"I wouldn't have any grudges against her. I do just want her to be happy."

"I wouldn't want her second guessing things and regretting anything. Whatever she does, I'm happy for her."

The coffee bean salesman also didn't seem to hold any grudges against his fellow islanders for giving him the boot, suggesting they probably voted him out as they knew he'd stay loyal to Sophie if she'd left anyway.

He said: "They know how much I liked Sophie and that my head wouldn't have turned."

Reflecting on his time in the villa, Connor said it was "unbelievable" and felt that him and Sophie were so "natural".

"We were just laughing all the time," he added. "We'd just sit there laughing for no reason, even when we weren't talking.

"We definitely had that instant chemistry when we first met. I did have butterflies, she made me a bit nervous and that was a good nervous, obviously I really liked her. I haven't had that for ages."

Anybody else kind of gutted these two can't stay together, now?

With the arrival of new bombshells Wallace and Demi just moments after Connor's exit, we're sure there's much more drama ahead. But will Sophie's head be turned?

Love island continues tonight on ITV2 at 9pm.
