‘Love Is Blind’ Was Actually Filmed All The Way Back In 2018

When Love Is Blind landed on Netflix, it was an instant hit. Full of emotional (and somewhat unbelievable) declarations of love, steamy PDA and furious lovers tiffs, it offered us everything we could ever want in a dating realty show.

But there's one thing even more surprising than all the jilting at the altar, skin-crawling love triangles and drunken bachelorette meltdowns (we're looking at you, Jessica).

Did you know that Love Is Blind was actually filmed all the way back in 2018, and kept secret for a whole 14 months before it aired?!

Yep, before the show landed on Netflix, the couples who stayed together were forced to keep quiet about their new relationships and lives together, and weren't allowed to tell anyone about the life altering experience they'd been involved in, keeping only their nearest and dearest in the loop.

Plus, the couples who came out of the experience single were also tasked with keeping their relationship status a secret so they didn't give the finale away ahead of time. That takes some serious dedication.

Just last month, Love Is Blind contestant Damian Powers made the revelation, telling Refinery29 that the series officially wrapped filming in November 2018 - meaning Amber and Barnett and Lauren and Cameron have already celebrated their one year wedding anniversaries.

And the news sent shockwaves as it circulated, causing people to flock to Twitter to question *how* the show was only just hitting screens.

"WAIT... WHAT!? #LoveIsBlind was filmed in 2018!!!," one person wrote.

While another added: "Wait wtf I just read that #LoveIsBlind was filmed in 2018 wow".

A third echoed: "Guys, #LoveIsBlind filmed in 2018!!!!!! are you joking?! how did these people keep their relationships secret for OVER a year?!?!!?!"

Speaking about the fact the cast lasted so long keeping family Christmases and holidays under wraps, the series' creator Chris Coelen said: "I think that's just a testament to the authenticity of the whole thing. They went through this process, built this relationship and put it to the test.

"It's trial by fire and their relationships are forged incredibly strongly. I don't see them ever slowing down."

But despite the fact it proved the strength of her relationship, in her first interview since her marriage to Cameron became public knowledge, Lauren admitted just how difficult hiding such a big part of her life had been.

"It's been so hard," she said. "Especially throughout the holidays. For Christmas, I visited [Cameron's family] in Maine, and it's like, I can't even really post pictures of my family because we still have to keep it a secret.

"Same with the family dinners that we have with my dad. So many great moments that we've just shared in the past year and a half that we haven't been able to share with the world."

While they did their best to keep things top secret, of course, some eagle eyed fans managed to work out who had made it the distance through some Instagram detective work of their own.

Kelly and Kenny gave the game away earlier this year, when she shared a lengthy post about embracing single life on her page.

Meanwhile, Damian and Giannina haven't been too secretive about the fact they're back together after their dramatic wedding break-up.

They both posed in the same sunflower field on their individual pages, which could hardly be a coincidence. Plus, Gigi's mum even confirmed the news in the comments of a photograph.

When one person questioned why she still followed Damian, she wrote (in Spanish): "It's not acting, not even a little bit. I follow Damian simply because they reconciled and are still together, they love each other and it was best for [the wedding not going ahead] to happen because that way they could get to know each other better." Our hearts.

Both Cameron and Lauren and Amber and Barnett both did a pretty good job of keeping their blossoming marriages secret, all in all.

But some eagle eyed fans spotted that Barnett and Amber were both wearing the exact same hat on the fourth of July - a surefire clue that they were holidaying together.

Lauren was also spotted in the reflection of Cameron's glasses in a holiday snap, and posted several selfies in his house. As much as the pair tried to keep things hush hush, they didn't get past some people...

And a video of the pair kissing has even been doing the rounds. WE LOVE TO SEE IT.

Perhaps one of the most intriguing relationships of the series, if you had asked us to put our bets on Jessica and Mark even maintaining a friendship after the show, we wouldn't have counted on it.

However, the pair's Instagram interactions reveal they are very much still in contact. In fact, Mark has even commented on Jessica's most recent Instagram (a throwback of their helicopter date) hinting that things are still on good terms.

Ahead of tomorrow's finale, Jessica revealed to USA Today that she and Mark were no longer an item, but swore that at one point she had been in love with him.

Meanwhile, Mark told the same publication he had nothing but fond feelings for Jessica, even urging her critics not to berate her for how she treated him.

"Jess is always gonna have a special place in my heart no matter what," Mark said. "We're the first people to ever do this. Jess was figuring it out just as much as I was. I really wish people would cut her some slack, because she is beautiful and a really deep, loving person."

To see all the couples looking back at their Love Is Blind experiences for the first time, and to hear from them first hand how their relationships are faring today, catch the reunion show tomorrow on Netflix.

If the preview is anything to go by, it's sure to be dramatic...
